General Dentistry

Preventative dentistry is one aspect of general dentistry which emphasizes the importance of routine hygiene visits along with daily at-home care. It is important to understand that adhering to these recommendations will help us provide better care to your oral health. Early detection is the key to promote positive dental oral environment. Another aspect of general dentistry is basic restorative dentistry, such as, fillings, which is described in more detail below.

Composite Fillings (White)
A composite resin filling (tooth colored) is used for several reasons. The most common is to repair minimal tooth fractures and tooth decay. Composites are not only used to restore decayed areas, but are also used for cosmetic improvements of the smile by changing the color of the teeth or reshaping disfigured teeth. Composite fillings are also more aesthetic because the dentist is able to closely match the shade of existing tooth. More advantages are that the resin will bond directly to the tooth and requires less drilling to be involved than with amalgam fillings.

Veneers
Veneers are very thin pieces of durable, tooth shaped porcelain that are custom made (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a beautiful and attractive smile.

Veneers can completely reshape your teeth and smile. They can often be alternatives to crowns and the ideal solution in treating many dental conditions.

Veneers are very durable and will last many years, giving you a beautiful long lasting smile.

Crowns
A crown (or cap) is a covering that encases the entire tooth surface restoring it to its original shape and size. A crown protects and strengthens tooth structure that cannot be restored with fillings or other types of restorations.

Although there are several types of crowns, porcelain (tooth colored crown) are the most popular, because they resemble your natural teeth. They are highly durable and will last many years. Porcelain crowns are made to match the shape, size, and color or your teeth giving you a natural, long-lasting beautiful smile.

Zoom® In-Office Whitening
The Zoom In-Office Whitening System is clinically proven to whiten teeth an average of eight shades in just one office visit, giving patients the immediate results they want. Zoom gets teeth whiter, faster, and keeps them whiter longer using the latest light-activated whitening technology and industry-leading, take-home whitening products. Plus, Zoom is now easier than ever with our completely redesigned New Zoom Kit.

How does Zoom work?
The Zoom Whitening Gel’s active ingredient is hydrogen peroxide. As the hydrogen peroxide is broken down, oxygen enters the enamel and dentin, bleaching colored substances white, leaving the structure of the tooth unchanged. The Zoom Lamp aids in activating the hydrogen peroxide and helps it penetrate the surface of the tooth.

Digital X-Rays
Digital radiography is an advanced technology that speeds treatment and helps us make the most accurate and efficient diagnosis of your dental condition. Some great advantages are that we can obtain image instantly and studies have shown there is up to 90 percent less radiation over traditional x-rays. We are also able to store images electronically in each patients file.
